Play has begun on all courts after persistent rain disrupted the Tuesday schedule at Roland Garros.
The first matches of the day on uncovered courts began at approximately 4:10 p.m. local time in Paris. Alex de Minaur is among those starting his campaign at the clay-court major, where the 11th seed is taking on #NextGenATP star Alex Michelsen.
Despite the inclement weather, the action has continued throughout the day on Court Philippe-Chatrier and Court Suzanne-Lenglen, which are each fitted with a retractable roof. Seventh seed and two-time finalist Casper Ruud defeated Felipe Meligeni Alves 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in the second match on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with Novak Djokovic set to compete there later during the night session. The defending champion and No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings takes on home wild card Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
On Court Suzanne-Lenglen, Tomas Martin Etcheverry defeated home favourite Arthur Cazaux 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. In the final match of the day, 13th seed Holger Rune will play Daniel Evans in the pair’s maiden Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting.
Among the other stars in men’s singles action following the rain delay is Pablo Carreno Busta, who has begun his first tour-level match for nearly a year and half against 31st seed Mariano Navone on Court 4. Meanwhile Geneva finalist Tomas Machac is taking on Nuno Borges on Court 8.
The men's doubles action was also due to kick off on Tuesday, but all 11 first-round matches on the schedule have been postponed for the day due to the rain.
