Former Roland Garros semi-finalist Diego Schwartzman moved into the second round of qualifying at this year’s event on Tuesday when he overcame Austrian Lukas Neumayer 6-2, 6-3.

Schwartzman, who reached the last four in Paris in 2020, will make his final appearance at the clay-court major if he qualifies after he announced last month that he will retire in February 2025. The former No. 8 in the PIF ATP Rankings won 81 per cent (22/27) of his first-serve points against Neumayer to advance after 70 minutes.
