Enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Southern Methodist Univ. in
Dallas, reaching the NCAA quarterfinals in 1986 and earning All-America
honors in 1986-87. In each of his three seasons, he ranked No. 16, No. 15
and No. 11 in singles. He set a SMU record as a freshman for most wins by a
first year player as he compiled a 27-5 dual match record.
In 1984 he was runner-up at the Wimbledon junior championships to Mark
Kratzmann.
Won his first career Grand Prix doubles title in 1989 at Adelaide, team-
ing with countryman Neil Broad. Earned a career-high $21,523 while ranking a
year-end best No. 55 in doubles.
