Mother, Samantha, was a human resources manager at the National Health Sservice. Father, Craig, worked for Johnson Controls. Both are retired.
Grandparents had a big back garden that he used to play with them on when he was really young. He was either playing with a table tennis bat and a table tennis ball when he was about two, then was hitting volleys by age five.
Defeated Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the juniors.
Practised with Roger Federer at Wimbledon when he was a junior.
Spent five years at Texas Christian University (TCU), where he played college tennis.
Fearnley suffered a series of injuries that hindered his progress in college: a stress reaction in his rib, a torn posterior tibialis, a right rotator cuff injury, pubic osteitis in his pubic bone, a lower back injury due to a trapped nerve and “a lot” of torn abdominals.
In his final year at TCU, helped his team clinch the national championship.
Became a four-time ITA All-American for TCU and two-time qualifier for the ATP Next Gen Accelerator, which increases the development pathway for top players in the American Collegiate system by providing direct entry into ATP Challenger Tour events.
