The Pacific Coast Athletic Association conference champion at No. 1 in
1987. Earned All-America honors by reaching the NCAA quarterfinals and
ranked No. 35 in the country.
Qualified at his first Grand Prix at the Lipton International in 1989
and defeated Martin Jaite in the first round before losing to Mats Wilander.
Captured his first Grand Prix doubles title with David Pate at the
Sydney Indoor in October 1989, beating top-seed Cahill-Kratzmann in the
final.
Earned a career-high $38,394 and finished a year-end best No. 204 on the
ATP computer, the third straight year he improved his ranking.
