In 1984 he was runner-up at the Wimbledon junior championships to Mark Kratzmann. Won his first career Grand Prix doubles title in 1989 at Adelaide, team- ing with countryman Neil Broad. Earned a career-high $21,523 while ranking a year-end best No. 55 in doubles.
