Turned pro fulltime in 1986 when he finished No. 42 on the ATP computer after a ranking of No. 299 in 1985. Earned a career-high $276,404, compiled a 38-23 match record and ranked a year-end best No. 25 in 1989, his third top 50 finish in four years.
